Vietnam 'truly brilliant'

I decided to read this book whilst on holiday in Vietnam what a brilliant read really bringing the places I visited with my husband to life. I found myself reading paragraphs out to my husband, as the author really captured the country and the incredible sense of history of the people.It is also a poignant reminder that we share a varied inheritance depending on our experiences as people or countries and the legacies left by past colonial influences.The people we met on our trip were respectful, considerate and above all happy to be able to share their countries history with us.I would thoroughly recommend this book to anyone interested in understanding a country and its people.

Excellent book

I loved this book which I bought after reading the area Planter's wife and found it every bit as enthralling. The author has great skill in bringing the characters and locations to life so that you feel you know them. Can't wait for the next one!

Silk Merchant's Daughter

A brilliant story written around the events leading up to the war in Vietnam which is very interesting as we only heard the American and French side of things and as usual were very biased. Couldn't put it down!
