More a reference book than step by step

I got this book because I love drawing buildings (Urban sketching mainly) but I sometimes struggle to replicate some textures. I don't have an art degree (grad in Finance), so I never really had the training on that.This book is not really the step by step guide, I more see it as a reference where you can go to any part of the book if you wanna learn about specific technics etc...In any case you don't really need a step by step, just pratice and you will develop your own step by step.In this book you will find, a quick guide on different art supply, quick course on perspective, and then the rest on drawing buildings > textures, colors etc....I don't think it's a book you can read in one go as there is so much to learn there, it's more you scan it quickly then get back to it once you practised a bit.I'm still looking into it even though I bought it about 6 months ago, so deserves the 5 stars for me!

Great Buildings

The pictures in this book are fabulous, the artist being American, a lot of the buildings you will never see in the UK. There are also a lot of intricate penwork, I am only just a beginner but found the book very enthralling. I particularly liked the chapter on ironwork.

You can depend upon Claudia Nice for real help in the art genre she writes about.Professional or beginner she is a sure guide.Much of the "art" literature is just sleazy, Claudia is fit for young & old.
