By E. Perkins
This is a good walkthrough with plenty of good advice and help, but some of that advice is difficult to actually implement. The biggest example that i can thank of is it recomends costly punch, a very powerful attack materia that doesn't use AP.The problem is that after an excess of 70 hour play time and a 95% mission completion rate, i have not unlocked this materia, and according to the guide, i'm not quite there yet, as i need to complete 5 more (very hard) missions that, according to the guide i need costly punch for. (i find goblin punch works instead)The up side is that the maps are accurate, as i have come to expect from brady games guides. The bestiary is good, as The game uses monsters that look the same, but aren't quite. The secrets section is really very good, but is quite small. Still very useful if you are chasing the Genji equipment. The materia fusion guide is not good to begin with, but once you get your head around the basics, it rapidly becomes extremly good.Overall a useful guide, but the advice seems to take advantage of new game+ at times. Get it for the advice and hints to beat the monsters that are hard to kill.

Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core - Special Edition (PSP) is a prequel to the Final Fantasy 7 video game and it covers the story of Zack Fair, Cloud Strife and Sephiroth and the reasons for their actions in FF7.This guide provides assistance to anyone who is stuck or wants to go back and cover areas where they had problems when they completely the game. That is why I bought it. I had struggled with some of the battles but after a number of restarts I made it to the end. I had not found all the materia, potions, treasures, etc. I needed help finding these missing items, so I decided to give this game guide a chance. The book is spectacular it is in full colour, on a glossy paper with some of the most beautiful illustrations I have ever seen in a game guide. It opens with a Character Guide, giving not only a summary of the character but its link to the Final Fantasy VII Platinum game and the DVD film Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (2 Disc Special Edition) [DVD]. There are also screen shots demonstrating the characters key moments in the story. This is followed by a "Game System" guide. The "Game System" guide covers things from the Core Concept of the story, through the game controls; how to read your character's health stats and a Key to the abbreviations; as well as limit skills to name but a few.The walkthrough is more of a guide to what to do and where to go, and includes a guide to the boss fight(s) for that level. It opens with a summary, including quotes and screen shots. Each level "chapter" has a map showing the start and the goal (final position) as well as any materia, potions, treasure and keys. Each section also has an "Enemies on the Prowl" bestiary. This means that you don't have to search through the book's separate bestiary to see what attack and defence levels the current enemy has, you simply glance at the bottom of the page and the basic information is right there. As you get use to the guide you will find that you rarely need to pause the game; you can just glance down and you will have a good idea when you are facing straight away.Included in the boss fight guide is a box with the boss stats in - very handy when you get use to the key as you can work out your own way to tackle the boss, something which is far more fulfilling than just working from the guides suggestion - though if you are stuck the guides boss fight suggestion is well worth a look. The "Mission Guide" gives you an at-a-glance map with indicators for the locations of items. There is an enemies guide linked to the bestiary and a brief stratagem for the boss fight - I found this more useful than the walkthrough, but that's just me.The "Materia and Abilities" guide is something which I should have paid more attention to. It covers everything from "basic abilities" (attacking, dodging, etc) through to items, magic and materia. The section also contains another of those great at-a-glance guides to the power of the materia.I also found the "Accessories and Items" at-a-glance guide. I'd never realised that I had missed so many things on my way round. The "Bestiary" is engrossing. All those enemies, in each different form, with their locations and details about their strengths and weaknesses in table form. It was so easy to see why I was loosing certain battles to some of the weaker bosses, I was simply making the wrong approach. The "Wishes" is a brief guide to the extras of the game. Finally there is the "Art Gallery". This section contains some of the truly stunning art work from the game as well as mini production sketches so that you can compare the final result to the pencil drawings. The game guide is a very good quality product. It contains everything you need (well, I haven't found anything that is missing, yet). I would recommend that you attempt the game without reference to it at least once. It can be frustrating to fail over and over again, but the sense of achievement you get when you have completed it alone more than if you just use the guide to get you through.

By Mr. S. White
This is probably the toughest Final Fantasy game I've played so far. Even following the guide book, this game is easy for the 1st two 3rds of the game, but then the difficulty jumps from easy to nearly impossible. I'm only a casual gamer, but this was rediculous. Other than that, a great game.
