A prompt, to start you thinking

This is the 2nd book, that i have, whose Title begins with ' In the Beginning.The 1st is by Isaac Asimov who subjects each verse, of the Book of Genesis, in The Bible, to a logical questioning examination. He draws no other conclusions.This book by Granville Sewell is a collection of 10 Essays relating to the puzzle of the initiation and development of life, especially humankind, on this planet. Sewell starts way back before the time when Genesis was written.We are accustomed to thinking 'How clever we have been', especially over the last 100 years. Starting with Quantum Theory and the Big Bang idea, physicists have been researching backwards in time for the discovery and identification of smaller and smaller items of whatever. Remember the excitement in 2012 about Higgs Bosun?Sewell directs our attention, from the opposite direction, towards consideration of how such incredibly minute items organize themselves as atoms; atoms that somehow organize themselves into the world where we find ourselves - how can this be? It does sound like science fiction does it not? Yet here we are and to make matters worse, those particles did not stop at just human life. No, we have Conscience but what is that? Plus, lurking in the background is Intelligent Design. You may feel, as do I, that the more we think that we know, the more there is still to know. No need to worry about running out of things to do.

Design is common sense, Evolution is nonsense

A short book (finished it within 2days), but an excellent collection of essays. Worth buying, even if it's just for the quotes..."It is not enough to say that design is a more likely scenarioto explain a world full of well designed things. Once you allowthe intellect to consider that an elaborate organism with trillionsof microscopic interactive components can be an accident... you haveessentially 'lost your mind'" - Jay Homnick.5*P.
