Every horse owner should own a copy!

Written in a no-nonsense style, Jamie Jackson's sensible and practical book has chapters not only on hooves, but also on creating "founder free" living environments and diets necessary for both the treatment and most importantly, prevention of laminitis and founder.With the incidence of laminitis, founder, obesity, and related conditions such as Cushing's Disease on the increase in the equine population around the world, this book should be absolutely mandatory reading for every horse owner - both novice and experienced alike.Even if your horse or pony has never experienced a bout of laminitis or founder, you will still benefit from reading this book. The ideas contained within Jackson's book will not only give you the knowledge to provide your horse with a happier and more stress free life style; but also to recognise the tell tale signs of founder; know what to do about them; and preferably prevent them from surfacing in the first place. For as the old cliché goes, prevention is always better than cure!

Excellent book, hope for the hopeless

This book brings the reader out of the dark from the misery and uncertainty of horses/ponies who are struggling with laminitis and founder. It give hope to those who are seriously contemplating a visit from the vet with the humane killer in hand. Laminitis/founder is not the death sentence we are widely led to believe - it is a call to arms. You and your equine friend will be the better for reading this book. Horses and ponies are animals, they need to live like animals, not shiny ornaments.
